Vacancy for a Structural Engineer 2013Posted on 7th March 2013
An excellent opportunity now exists for a Structural Engineer with a strong background in rotating machinery - ideally in turbomachinery design and analysis - to join this leading international engineering consultancy based in Lincoln, UK.
We are looking for self-motivated, well-organised candidates who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team based in our Lincoln office. Ideal characteristics would include:
- A gas or steam turbine background and at least 5 years experience working in the field of structural mechanics applied to the design of turbo-machinery
- Excellent fundamental understanding of stress and vibration issues in rotating machinery; sound knowledge of the relevant finite element (FE) analyses to ensure safe operation of high-speed machines, including creep and fatigue assessment.
- An interest in formulating effective design solutions to meet customer requirements in often demanding operating environments.
The successful candidate will have a good first degree, possibly a higher degree and/or Chartered Engineer status. A current working knowledge of an FE package such as ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent is expected. They will require good communication skills and be able to interface with clients.
The post represents a challenging position for a candidate looking to take responsibility and ultimately to develop our business. Starting salary will be in the range of £35k to £55k plus benefits and the post offers excellent opportunities for professional growth within PCA and in the international turbomachinery community.
Please forward your CV to email@example.com with a covering letter explaining how your experience matches our ideal characteristics described above. We may also consider applicants who are at an earlier stage in their career if they can demonstrate sound understanding of the fundamentals and enthusiasm to develop within our business.
Established for well over twenty years, PCA serves many of the world's leading manufacturers of axial and radial turbomachinery - including aero gas turbines, industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, air compressors, turbochargers, gas compressors and expanders, fans and pumps.
